City woman charged with shoplifting

A Vicksburg woman was in the Warren County Jail during the weekend for a shoplifting at Wal-Mart SuperCenter.

Susan Hollowell, 43, 3022 Washington St., was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Saturday at the store at 2150 Iowa Blvd., and charged with felony shoplifting, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Hollowell is accused of taking $658 in merchandise. All the stolen items were recovered and returned after her arrest, said Stewart.

She was released on a $5,000 bond.

Computer, TV among missing items

Three residential burglaries and an auto burglary were reported in the city during the weekend.

* A Dell laptop valued at $1,000, a woman’s gold wedding set valued at $1,000 and a gold diamond ring valued at $700 were reported missing at 1:30 p.m. Friday from a home in the 1400 block of Wisteria Drive.

* An Olevia 42-inch TV valued at $479 was reported missing at 3:30 p.m. Friday from a home in the 2000 block of South Frontage Road.

* A Gateway laptop valued at $1,100 was reported missing at 6:50 p.m. Sunday from a home in the 1600 block of Chambers Street.

* A woman’s purse valued at $100 and containing $185 and assorted credit cards was reported missing at 7:24 a.m. Sunday from a 1993 Mercury Marquis at Wal-Mart SuperCenter, 2150 Iowa Blvd.

Downed utility pole being replaced today

A utility pole knocked down on Mission 66 and Indiana Avenue in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday night was expected to be repaired and a traffic light was to be replaced today.

Sgt. Jackie Johnson of the Vicksburg Police Department said this morning that the truck needed for the work was due by mid-day.

Two people identified today as Jasmine Coffie, 19, and Phelshia Coffie, 38, both of 124 Pemberton St., were taken to River Region Medical Center after the wreck, but no hospital spokesman was available for a condition report this morning.

The occupants of the second vehicle were not identified.
