Robert K. Laird

TALLULAH — Funeral services for Robert K. “Bob” Laird, age 76, were held Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tallulah.
Mr. Laird was born April 5, 1932, and passed away March 22, 2009. He was a native of Flora, Miss., and moved to Tallulah in 1949. Following graduation from Tallulah High School and Louisiana State University, he served three years in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Smith Laird; brother, Jack Laird; and sisters, Loraine L. Smith and Maxine L. Stegal.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Tony Lourens of Germantown, Tenn.; and two grandsons, Colin and Tyler Lourens. He is also survived by a brother, William E. Laird of Monroe, La., and a sister, Lynda L. McKellar of Brandon.
Mr. Laird was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah, where he served as a trustee; was past superintendent of the fifth district levee board; a former Madison Parish Police juror; secretary, treasurer and president of the Farmers’ Co-op Gin; and a member of the First South Farm Credit Board of Directors.
Pallbearers were Bill Querrey, James Reeves, Jay Byram, Terry Murphy, Jack Laird and grandsons Colin and Tyler Lourens.
