Yentzen, Gwin wed at St. Michael Catholic

David Hunter Yentzen and Mary Katherine Gwin were married at 2 p.m. Nov. 14, 2009, at St. Michael Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Conway of Hattiesburg and the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor, officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Gwin of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Trahan Sr. and Carolyn L. Fugler, all of Vicksburg, the late Charles F. Fugler and the late Mark Benjamin Gwin of Monroe, La.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry David Yentzen of Iowa, La. He is the grandson of the late Onevia Ray Harrington and Long A. Monceaux, both of Iowa, the late Shirley Dailey and the late Robert Yentzen, both of Lake Charles, La.

A program of nuptial music was presented by Ryan Foulon, piano and vocals, of Baton Rouge.

Maid of honor was Stephanie Anne Gwin of Vicksburg. Bridesmaids were Toni Michelle Brasher and Sarah Elizabeth Latza, both of Hernando; Beth Marie Williams of Vicksburg; and Amanda Gwen Pouncey of Dothan, Ala.

Casey John Fruge of Shreveport, La., served as best man. Groomsmen were Michael David Fontaine of Houston, Texas; Brad Michael Richard of Sunset, La.; John Seth Granger of Iowa; and Trevor Gordon Pitts of Hattiesburg.

Flower girls were Sarah Marie Gremillion and Emma Elizabeth Gremillion, both of Iowa. Ring bearer was Hugh Charles Trahan of Clinton.

Eucharistic ministers were John D. Barnes of Vicksburg and Kimberly Trahan of Baton Rouge. Readers of the Liturgy were Jonathan N. Finney of New Orleans, Brady W. Pitts of Hattiesburg and Julie A. Thibodaux of New Orleans.

Prayers of the faithful were read by Reneé C. Allen of Sorrento, La.

Robin Ingle Trahan of Fort Worth, Texas, served as the bride’s proxy. Special wedding assistant was Lori Flanagan of Vicksburg.

A reception followed at the Southern Heritage Cultural Center. Guests were entertained by The Foulon Brothers Band.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They will make their home in Slidell, La.

The bride is employed in the front office of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, and the groom is head athletic trainer for Holy Cross School, both in New Orleans.

Rehearsal dinner

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at St. Michael’s Parish Hall on the eve of the wedding. The bride and groom chose this time to present gifts to their parents and members of the bridal party.

Luncheon

The bride’s grandmothers hosted a bridesmaids’ lunch-eon at Anchuca.

Bachelorette party

Beth Williams, Lindsay Hall and Toni Brasher hosted a Halloween-themed bachelorette party in Hattiesburg.

Bachelor party

The groomsmen gathered to watch an LSU football game at the groom’s home in Slidell before attending a Saints football game in New Orleans.

Showers

Mr. and Mrs. Tom McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Leist, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Battalio, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ingram, Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Howington, Mr. and Mrs. Waverly Artz, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Palmertree, Dr. and Mrs. David Halinski, and Mr. and Mrs. Tod Dorbeck hosted a his-and-hers around-the-house shower at the Mc-Knight home.

Crystal Yentzen, Donna Higginbotham and Ruth Barrios, relatives of the groom, hosted a kitchen and recipe shower at the Higginbotham home in Lake Charles.

Robin Trahan and Kelly Trahan, aunts of the bride, hosted a miscellaneous shower at St. Michael Catholic Church Parish Hall.

Maria Adona, Alice Ellis, Karen Jones and Linda Cook, co-workers of the bride’s mother, hosted a miscellaneous shower at the Adona home.

The bride was honored, along with bride-elect Dana Derrick, in a combined shower given by Emilee Booth and Lisa Gwin at the Gwin residence. Special guests were high school classmates and teachers.
