Two face charges of drug possession, one near school

Two Vicksburg residents were charged Wednesday in separate drug cases.
Demika Thomas, 27, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. after a search warrant was served at her home at 1901 Grove St., Apartment C, following an undercover police operation, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
She was was charged with possession of cocaine within 1,500 feet of a school after police responded to numerous complaints of drug activity. Her home is near St. Aloysius High School.
Thomas was released from the Warren County Jail on $25,000 bond.
In the second case, Lionel Major, 51, 571 Redbone Road, “was originally stopped for careless driving” at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday in a business parking lot at 2600 Clay St., Stewart said. He was charged with possession of cocaine and later released from the Warren County Jail on $5,000 bond, Stewart said.
Vicksburg woman held for drug court violation
A Vicksburg woman was in the Warren County Jail today for drug court violation, records showed.
Dee Leach, 22, 104 James Court, was being held without bond.
City man charged in ATM burglary
A Vicksburg man was charged with burglary after police saw him trying to break into a bank ATM.
Patrick Caples, 26, 300 Union Ave., was arrested at 12:20 this morning after police responded to a report of someone trying to break into the Trustmark National Bank ATM at 1301 Washington St., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Caples reportedly was still trying to get into the machine when patrolmen arrived, Stewart said.
He was being held at the Warren County Jail on $15,000 bond.
Phone, DVD player reported missing
A cell phone, DVD player and speakers were among items reported stolen in Vicksburg Wednesday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
An Olympus digital recorder valued at $30 and a Blackberry cell phone valued at $300 were reported missing from a home in the 1000 block of Meadow Street at 7:02 a.m.
About $2 in change was reported stolen from a 1998 Dodge Neon in the 1100 block of Openwood Street at 2:15 p.m.
A 20-inch Vizio TV valued at $300 and a Samsung DVD player valued at $100 were reported stolen from a home in the 2900 block of East Main Street at 2:38 p.m.
A 750-watt Pioneer amplifier valued at $250 and two 10-inch Sony Explode subwoofers valued at $300 were reported missing from a 1995 Mazda 626 in the 100 block of Churchhill Drive at 4:48 p.m.
Utility trailer stolen from Openwood home
In Warren County, a Top Hat utility trailer valued at $1,275 was reported stolen from a carport in the 1000 block of Newit Vick Drive in Openwood Plantation subdivision at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday, records showed.
