William B. Miller Sr.

William B. “Buddy” Miller Sr. died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 92.
A native of Straight Horn, Miss., Mr. Miller had lived in Vicksburg since 1950. He was a former employee of the Mississippi Forestry Commission, Mississippi State Plant Board and Lum’s Stockyard.
He was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a member and past president of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Battlefield C.B. Club. He was a former member of Gov. George Wallace’s staff.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Dufrene; and a brother, Carl Ellis Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary Barnes Miller of Vicksburg; one son, Billy Miller of Vicksburg; one daughter, Jean Ann Miller Alford of Minersville, Pa.; a half-sister, Mary Louise Lewis of Denton, Tenn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Reiber officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 9 a.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Sullivan, Wendell Sullivan and grandchildren Alton Miller, Shallar Miller, Joseph “Joe” Miller, Michael Alford, Christopher Alford and Mary Rose Miller.
