UTICA — Sharron W. Allen died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Veterans Memorial Nursing Home in Jackson. He was 69.
Mr. Allen was a native of Winnsboro, La., and had lived in the Vicksburg area most of his life. He was formerly employed by Westinghouse Corp., Magnolia Mobile Homes, Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and MCI-WorldCom.
He was a Mason, serving in the Utica Lodge, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Cayuga United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Greer; and a grandson, Phillip Craig Greer.
Survivors include his wife, Lamae S. Allen of Utica; two sons, Kent Greer and wife D.J. and Shannon Allen, all of Utica; two daughters, Terrie Payne and Shelia Brown, both of Utica; one brother, George Lee Allen of Winnsboro; one sister, Ollie Mae Donachricha of Winnsboro; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cayuga United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elizabeth Piazza and Bobby Polk officiating. Burial will follow at Cayuga Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Vicksburg. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Charles Lewis, Britt Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Elmer Nielson, Jason Hammond and Jerry Yates.
