A $2,700 property lien was levied this month by the U.S. Department of Justice against a Warren County man serving a federal prison sentence on a drug possession charge.
Gary Darnell Jackson, 33, was sentenced in July 2008 by U.S. District Judge David Bramlette on two felony counts — possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The filing is considered a lien for taxes and continues until the liability is satisfied, remitted, set aside or becomes unenforceable, according to federal criminal procedure guidelines.
An investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Warren County sheriff’s officials ensued after Jackson was arrested for domestic violence in June 2007, records indicate. A federal bench warrant was issued for Jackson’s arrest in November 2007, in Port Gibson.
