Dorothy T. Goodwin

Dorothy T. Goodwin died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Promise Specialty Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 84.

Born in Marshall, Texas, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph Taylor and Hilda Blanche Strouse Taylor Wilson and stepfather, James Ard Wilson.

A former resident of Texarkana, Texas, she and her husband married in 1950 and were residents of Vicksburg from 1952 until 1954, when they moved to Greenville, Miss., and Arkadelphia, Ark. They returned to Vicksburg in 1972.

Mrs. Goodwin was a member of the Extension Homemakers, a founding member of the Parkinson’s Disease Support Group and a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet Goodwin of Vicksburg; a son, David Goodwin and his wife, Johnnette, of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Will Goodwin and Bethany Goodwin; and two great-grandsons, John and Samuel Goodwin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Goodwin.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Cary Stockett, pastor of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be John Black, Gene Chatham, Jerry Dean, Bobby Fleming, Hugh Green, Tom Kendall, Glenn Pickering and Wade West.
