A Vicksburg man was arrested at the scene of a reported armed robbery late Monday after two residents locked themselves in a bedroom and reported a break-in.
Timothy Ross, 32, 1103 Jefferson St. Apartment 2, was arrested by Warren County deputies outside the home on Sally Willis Road minutes after two women called from the bedroom to report a burglary in progress, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
After the call to 911 was made, the man, who was in another part of the house, entered the bedroom and attempted to use the 40-caliber handgun he was carrying to force the women to hand over money, Pace said.
The suspect fled without getting any money, Pace said, and was arrested in the yard as deputies arrived. The gun also was found in the yard, the sheriff said.
Pace said Ross told officers he was at the home to collect on a loan made earlier to one of the women.
Ross was being held in the Warren County Jail without bond this morning.
