On behalf of the 2009 Warren County Relay for Life, we would like to express a huge thank you to all who participated and donated their time to this worthy cause. Kristy Luckett and I would like to thank Sheriff Martin Pace and Mr. Reginald Flaggs and their outstanding teams who assisted throughout the evening. Warren County by far has the best volunteers anywhere and without our fantastic committee and team captains, the event would not have been a success.
We’d like to thank our generous sponsors — Ameristar Casino Hotel, City of Vicksburg, DiamondJacks Casino Hotel, Golding Barge, Hometown Medical, Mutual Credit Union, Rainbow Hotel Casino, River Region Medical Center, Rebel Welding and RiverHills Bank — for their continued support every year.
A special thanks to Evelyn Parker ( KHITS 104.5), John Nelson (Z106) and also Ted Holman and friends for their help with the program this year.
This year we raised nearly $100,000 this year, with money still coming in to the teams. We are already planning Relay 2010 for April 23! Please make plans to attend and be a part of this great event! We urge any and all who are interested in planning this event to come to our next meeting, May 18 at the Vicksburg Convention Center at 5:30 p.m. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you at Relay.

Honored by students
I would like to thank Beechwood Elementary for naming me as honoree for their American Cancer Society Relay for Life team.
The love and support I receive from the staff and students has given me the strength to be a 12-year survivor and to keep fighting. Most important, our school surpassed its goal of $7,000 to help find a cure for future generations.
Our school has shown once again that “Beechwood is the Place to Bee.”

26 orders, no errors
On behalf of the Redwood Elementary Honor Choir, I’d like to thank Mr. Chris O’Brien, manager of 61N Sonic, for his outstanding service on our recent visit. His staff was so very courteous and helpful. They managed to get our 26 orders perfect and ready for us when we arrived! We had a wonderful lunch and were treated like VIPs! The kids loved it! Thanks again, Mr. O’Brien.

‘Fantasticks’ fantastic
A sincere thank you goes to each and every person who attended a live performance of “The Fantasticks” at the Parkside Playhouse these past two weekends.
You experienced the essence of theatre — you were a witness to magical moments that can only be seen as they unfold before you.
My heartfelt gratitude is with those who made this production both possible and memorable. Our production team members were Dorothy Brasfield, Denise Ragsdale, Marie Cunningham, Earlene McCleave, David Brewer, Jack Burns, Jo Beth Britt, Cheryl Pollock and Jim Shirley.
The technical and house/stage management team was Paul Ingram. We shared countless hours together and he shared his entire family’s time and talents with me including his wife, Donna, and sons John and Chris. As a family, together they discovered the true joy of live theatre.
The people who have my heart are the cast who brought the tender stage characters to life – Paul Ballard, David Crosby, “Buddy” Hallberg, Michael Nation, McKenzie Pollock, Chance Ragsdale, “Raggy” Ragsdale and Haley Sellers. I love you.
In an e-mail to our cast and crew, Tom Jones, the creator of this play, encouraged us to “explore, enjoy, discover” and bid us bon voyage on an exciting journey. I would happily take this journey with each and every one of you again!
