City man charged in beauty-shop heist

A Vicksburg man was arrested at police headquarters Wednesday afternoon for the burglary of Beauty Touch reported earlier that morning, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Edward Stowers, 42, 128 Village Drive, is accused of taking two bottles of hair conditioner valued at $12.58 each and assorted jewelry valued at $500 from the 1504 Washington St. store, Stewart said.
Stowers was identified by the business’s video footage.
He was being held without bond at the Issaquena County Jail pending at initial court hearing.
Armed robbery reported at apartment complex
About $200 was reported stolen after an armed robbery in the parking lot of Bienville Apartments in Vicksburg Wednesday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The victim was walking at about 4 p.m. when he was approached by a man he identified as black, about 5-foot-7, 160 pounds and wearing a black shirt, black pants and black shoes, Stewart said.
The man showed a handgun to the victim, Stewart said, and took his wallet before fleeing in an unknown direction, Stewart said.
The victim was not injured.
Drills, computer popular in thefts
Power tools and a computer were among items reported missing in Vicksburg, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A Craftsman drill valued at $100, a Black & Decker drill valued at $100, a mini tool set valued at $100 and four 50-foot extension cords valued at $100 were reported stolen from a shed in the 1500 block of East Avenue at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday.
A Dell laptop computer valued at $900 was reported stolen from Battlefield Campground lot 4, 1407 Interstate 20 Frontage Road, at 1:05 this morning.
