Scenes from the upcoming Warner Bros. mismatched-buddy movie “Due Date” will be filmed in Vicksburg and casting calls are in need of extras to work as drivers.

The one-day shoot — Tuesday — will require people to drive cars in “muted tones” to appear in scenes reportedly featuring Vicksburg’s riverfront.

Anyone can be considered, but the filmmakers need late-model vehicles that are silver or blue. Red, yellow, white and black won’t do, according to casting agents.

Extras will be paid for about a 14-hour workday, with the possibility of overtime, said extras casting director Elizabeth Gabel. Those interested may contact Gabel at 505-227-2685 or at elizabeth@egcasting.com with the make, model, color and year of vehicles. A photo of the vehicle may also be submitted by e-mail.

E-mail responses will include a photo of where extras will meet Tuesday. Contact information for anyone interested in working as an extra will be forwarded to assisting directors.

To be released by fall 2010, the movie will feature characters played by Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis on a cross-country trip across the Southeast to California for the birth of Downey’s character’s first child. Local tourism and bridge officials contacted by filmmakers have said the scene will feature the pair driving across the Mississippi River on the Interstate 20 bridge.

“Due Date” is directed by Todd Phillips, who directed “Road Trip” in 2000 and this year’s raucous, Las Vegas bachelor party-themed hit “The Hangover” co-starring Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper.

Gabel has cast extras in the quadruple Oscar-winning “No Country For Old Men” and the Oscar-nominated “3:10 to Yuma” in 2007, among others.
