Shooting victim released; no arrest made

A Vicksburg man was released Sunday from River Region Medical Center, a family member said, after being shot during an attempted robbery Tuesday night.

Curlie Whiten Jr., 60, 426 Zollingers Hill, told police he had stopped his car at a stop sign on Zollingers Hill at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 10 p.m. when he was approached by a man who demanded money and then shot him in the left forearm, said Vicksburg Police Sgt. Sandra Williams.

No arrest has been made.

Saw, compressor missing on Bellaire

A DeWalt miter saw and a Bostitch air compressor, total value of $750, were reported missing Sunday at a residence in the 100 block of Bellaire Drive at 8:11 a.m.

Cash reported missing from house in county

A residential burglary was reported in the county at 9:12 a.m. Saturday.

Missing from a home in the 300 block of Cooper Drive was $6,000.       

Four people injured in three wrecks

Four people were injured in three wrecks during the weekend.

A two-car wreck on U.S. 61 South at Redbone Road at 11:42 p.m. Friday sent Linda Wilson, 59, 110 Nickle St., Port Gibson, to River Region Medical Center.

A one-car wreck on Mississippi 465 sent Kandy Sanderford, 26, 100 Dusty Road, to the hospital at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

In the third case, two people in one car, William White, 68, and Fred White, 56, both of 1315 Boy Scout Road, were westbound on Interstate 20 near Flowers when they were injured in a one-car wreck.

Both were taken to River Region after the 1:41 p.m. Friday report.

A call to River Region was not returned.
