After a weeks-long search, muralists preparing a new panel at City Front have turned to the public to seek an exterior photo of the Glass Kitchen restaurant that was at South and Walnut streets.

Specifically, Robert Dafford is seeking a picture showing the exterior sign as it would have appeared in the 1960s. The restaurant will be in the background of a mural centered on the Jitney-Jungle store at South and Monroe streets.

Anyone with such a photo or snapshot willing to lend it to the artist may contact Charlie Mitchell at The Vicksburg Post, 1601 N. Frontage Road.

Bike rally organizers seeking vendors

Organizers for Rally on the River are seeking vendors for its second annual event.

The bike rally is a fundraiser for child abuse prevention efforts. It is set for April 18, the same weekend as Riverfest, Vicksburg’s annual downtown street festival.

PG lawyer’s story published by college

A Port Gibson author’s short story has been published in The Binnacle, the literary review magazine of the University of Maine at Machias. 

Copies of the 2008 spring edition were made available in December and include Melvin H. McFatter’s “Papercut.”

The fiction work features a dog as its main character.

Author set for Lorelei signing

A downtown bookstore will host author Mary Carol Miller of Greenwood for a book-signing.

Miller will sign “Great Houses of Mississippi,” “Lost Landmarks of Mississippi,” “Lost Mansions of Mississippi” and “Must See Mississippi” at 5:30 p.m. March 14 at Lorelei Books.

Vicksburg’s historic homes and landmarks are included in the books.
