Workers get ready for today’s grand opening of the renovated and restocked Salvation Army Family Store on Mission 66. The changes are to make the store more efficient and accessible, said Maj. John Showers, second from left, regional office director. Also helping get the store ready are, from left, Billy Williams; Phyllis Renfro, president of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary; and Kevon Kersh, head of maintenance from the Jackson regional office. In addition to the renovations, the Salvation Army in Vicksburg has a new commander, Lt. Herbert Frazier. The store’s hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Today, customers who make a purchase will receive a ticket for a free hot dog and drink.
