The engagement of Courtney Vontriece Bailey to Jon Stephen Brown, both of Vicksburg, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 4 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at Cedar Grove Church. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Bailey is the daughter of Melissa Doss of Fayette. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Bailey of Fayette and the late Samuel Bailey.

Mr. Brown is the son of Mary Louise Brown and Arthur Miller, both of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Brown of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a member of SADD, Drug Free and the Library Club.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and an associate degree in nursing from Alcorn State University, where she was a National Dean’s List Scholar and a member of Alpha Kappa Mu and Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

Miss Bailey is a registered nurse supervisor at Vicksburg Convalescent Home and an RN field nurse for Medgar Evers Home Health Agency.

The prospective groom is a 1997 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where he was member of the Environmental Club, Library Club and SADD.

He attended Hinds Community College.

Mr. Brown is an area manager of Severn Trent Environmental Services.
