FAYETTE — Mary Ann Ford died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Promise Specialty Hospital in Vidalia, La. She was 69.
Mrs. Ford was born in Jefferson County to Mary White Rankin and Oceola Wilson. She was a member and mother at Mount Israel Baptist Church. She was a member of Mount Israel, Gold Mount and Family Connection Mass choirs. She worked for 27 years in the Alcorn State University Laundry Department.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Ford Sr.; a daughter, Cassandra Ford; two sisters, Sidey Mae Branch and Augusta M. Ross; and two brothers, Samuel Nathaniel Rankin and Tenner Rankin.
Survivors include six daughters, Elizabeth Jones of Natchez and Miracle Chantel Ford, Mary Kaho, Georgia Ford, Shaunda Stampley and Shrinika Ford, all of Fayette; four sons, Percy Ford of Greenville and Charles J. Ford, Elbert Ford and Nehemiah Ford, all of Fayette; six sisters, Helen Thomas, Maratha Knight and Alice Ward, all of Vicksburg, Josetta Wilson of Greenville, Frances Banks of Pattison and Genetta McGlory of Chicago; two brothers, Will T. Rankin of Fayette and Clarence Wilson of Pattison; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Israel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 today at Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
