City man charged in plan to sell marijuana

A Vicksburg man was arrested Tuesday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, police said.

Jose D. Mota, 27, was picked up at his 5220 U.S. 61 South, Lot H-20, home on a warrant after an investigation based on a citizen complaint, said Vicksburg police crime analyst Suzan Ebeling.

Mota was being held without bond in Warren County Jail pending action by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Ebeling said.

Passer-by’s awareness discovers burglary

A business burglary was reported today at 5:27 a.m. by a passer-by who noticed a broken window, police analyst Suzan Ebeling said.

Unlimited Kuts, 2510 Halls Ferry Road, reported that a PlayStation 3 game system and a game valued at $760 were stolen.

Purse, cash missing from parked vehicle

A purse containing personal items and $600 were reported stolen from an unlocked pickup Tuesday at 10:24 p.m., police crime analyst Suzan Ebeling said.

The truck was in the 1600 block of Vicklan Street.

Teen treated, released after Warrenton wreck

A one-vehicle wreck at 2700 Washington Street sent a Vicksburg teen to the hospital Tuesday night, fire department records said.

Asya Ross, 17, 1260 Warrenton Road, was taken to River Region Medical Center where a spokesman this morning said she had been treated and released.
