Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau agenda items

Meeting Thursday, the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau:
* Approved meeting minutes from Dec. 11.
* Approved financial statements from December and January.
* Heard the $75,000 renovation at the VCVB visitors center at 3300 Clay St. should be complete in April.
* Discussed the development of the 2009 Visitors Guide.
* Reviewed a completed school group planning brochure featuring educational Vicksburg attractions being sent to schools throughout Mississippi and northern Louisiana. An ad promoting school group visits has also been readied for inclusion in Mississippi Field Trips Magazine, which is mailed to every 3rd-8th-grade teacher in the state.
* Reviewed a completed brochure promoting “Tapestry: A Living History of Vicksburg,” a special tourism emphasis that starts in March.
* Approved a $1,000 sponsorship for the 30th Annual Run Thru History, scheduled for March 7.
* Approved a $2,000 sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Red Carpet Classic Auto Show, scheduled for April 11.
* Approved a $1,500 sponsorship for the 2nd Annual Rally on the River motorcycle rally, scheduled for April 18.
* Approved a meeting schedule for the remainder of 2009.
In executive session, the board:
* Accepted the resignation of board member Renay Jenkins, who is relocating to Baton Rouge.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 26 at 5:15 in the administrative office at 3300 Clay St.
