Eugene H. Hart

ROANOKE, Va. — Eugene H. “Gene” Hart died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. He was 75.

Mr. Hart was born in Roanoke and retired as a sergeant from the Alexandria, Va., Police Department. He also served as a dispatcher, retiring in 1996 from the Roanoke County Police Department. He was a member of Fort Lewis Christian Church and the Retired Police, Fire, and Sheriffs of the City of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph H. and Esther Harris Hart; his wife of 35 years, Louise H. “Wezy” Hart; his brothers, Ralph Jr. and Bernard Hart; a sister, Vivian Hart Shelton; and nephews, Rick Shelton and Derrick Beard.

Survivors include his daughter, Shari Lynn Good of Roanoke; two sisters, Shirley Hart Doyle of Vicksburg and Frances Hart McAllister of Roanoke; a granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services were at 11 today at Simpson Funeral Home in Roanoke with the Rev. Terry Elkins officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
