The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is offering its annual nonprofit initiative, Acorns for Wildlife, through today.
The program will provide year-old, bare-root oak seedlings for private and public land. The aim is to improve the habitat and provide acorns for wild turkeys, deer and other wildlife.
Oak species available are white, cherrybark, Shumard, swamp chestnut (cow), water and Nuttall. The price is $35 per bag of 50, including oak-specific fertilizer packets.
