On a day when two of their best players had to sit for long stretches because of foul trouble, Dominique Brown stepped in and led the Vicksburg Gators to a hard-fought victory.

Brown, a backup point guard, converted steals into breakaway layups on three consecutive possessions in the second quarter to spark a 15-2 run. Brown finished with a team-high 22 points, along with five rebounds and four steals.

Kienta Ross added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Vicksburg (11-3), while Willie Gibbs and Mychal Ammons scored 12 points apiece.
