Mary Frances Payne Glatt

Mary Frances Payne Glatt, 92, of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at River Region Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 26, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cary Stockett officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Glatt was born May 26, 1917, in Yarbo, Ala., to Josiah Clark Payne and Mary Jane Strickland Payne. She was only a few weeks old when she came to live in Vicksburg. She attended Speed Street School.

She was a homemaker and a sitter for the elderly and provided childcare within her home for her grandchildren as well as other children in the community. She was a wonderful mother and a very loving and supportive grandmother; a person who never said a hurtful word about anyone and always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her.

Mrs. Glatt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dalton Henry Glatt Sr.; her son, Robert Stanley Glatt; and her brother, Richard Stanley Payne.

Survivors include one son, Dalton Henry Glatt Jr.; one daughter, Jane Glatt Brock and husband Carl; and three grandchildren, Jonathan Robert Brock, Christopher Dalton Brock and Katelyn Frances Brock, all of Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Carl Brock, Jonathan Brock, Chris Brock, Percy Glatt, Buddy Lofton and Jerry Dean.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. George Abraham, Dr. Paul Pierce IV, Dr. Sammy Ashley, Dr. Daniel Dare and Rita Fowler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crawford Street United Methodist Children and Youth Programs or to a charity of your choice.
