Mavis Marie Barnes died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 68.

Born in Lonoke, Ark., Mrs. Barnes was a Vicksburg resident for most of her life and had lived in Virginia Beach, Va., for the past two years. She was a member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Barnes; and her parents, J.T. Marshall and Martha Ella Marshall.

Survivors include her son, Randall Barnes of Virginia Beach; daughter, Rose Annette Barnes of Vicksburg; brothers, Melvin R. Marshal and Marvin J. Marshall, both of Vicksburg; sister, Rose Gardner of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy J. Talbert officiating. Burial will take place at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Monday from noon until the service.

Pallbearers will be Israel West, Wayne Williamson, Jerry Marshall, Bobby Turner, Kendell Stevens and Tommy Gardner. Honorary pallbearer is Larry Montpelier.
