Handler Paul Sletten stands Saturday evening with Boo, the winner of the National Retriever Club’s 2010 National Championship Stake. Boo, a male black Labrador owned by Kit and Hunter Johnston and John Stracka, all of Chatfield, Minn., is one of 97 dogs who participated in the contest last week at property off Bovina Cutoff Road. Vicksburg was the first city in Mississippi and in the central time zone to host the event that began in the 1940s. Ten other finalists were named. One dog from Mississippi competed.
