Geraldine O. “Gerry” Peters died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
Born in Wisner, La., Mrs. Peters had lived in Vicksburg for the past 24 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, where she was a member of Grand Adventures and Deborah Sunday school class. She was noted for making pastries and, especially, her famous chocolate pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenard Faye Peters; and her brother, Nathan “Red” Oliver Jr.
Survivors include one son, Robert E. Peters and wife Sandra of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Justin Peters and wife Kathy of Ridgeland and Kelly Headley and husband Blake of Jackson; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Walker and Sarah Headley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles and Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight and Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Tom Hill, Calvin Pugh, Lee Robinson, Blake Headley, Dennis Markle and Randy Oswalt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dan Edney and the staff and caregivers at Belmont Gardens.
