Marion Marguerite Schmidt Francingues

GULFPORT, Miss. — Marion Marguerite Schmidt Francingues died Nov. 15, 2010, at Canon Hospice in Gulfport, Miss. She was 87.
Mrs. Francingues was born and lived in New Orleans until she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1952.
A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was born May 14, 1923, in New Orleans to Emile and Wilhelmina Goothye Schmidt. She had one sister, the late Norma Schmidt Long.
She grew up in New Orleans and toured with the Morris Nelson Professional Dance Troup before marrying Norman R. Francingues Sr. on June 11, 1942. Their marriage lasted over 56 years. In 1952, she moved from New Orleans to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where she lived until God called her to eternal rest.
She was mother to three sons, the late Ronald René Francingues, Norman René Francingues Jr. and Kenneth Raymond Francingues, and one daughter, Reneé Francingues Leva. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Eddie Blake Post 3937 and Gemini Carnival Association of Gulfport.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Sharon Francingues Jr. of Vicksburg and Kenneth Raymond and Jo Ann Francingues of Long Beach, Miss.; daughter and son-in-law, Reneé and David Leva of Long Beach; and sister-in-law, Yvonne Francingues White of Slidell, La. Grandchildren include Dana F. Gregory (Justin), Amanda “Mandi” M. Francingues, Jackie S. Pecoul (Perry), Suzanne F. Channell (Clay), Dennis R. Francingues, Maryann F. Herodes (Jared), Julie Leva, Gina L. Koepp (Keith) and Kenneth René Francingues (Jamie). She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren — Anzlee N. Channell, Caston C. Channell, Flindt A. Channell, Garrett M. Gregory, Kenneth Ronald Francingues, Ashton J. Herodes, Annaston E. Herodes, Addison C. Herodes, Aiden C. Koepp, Reece C. Koepp — and several nieces and nephews.
Extended family includes Robert and Novaline Shirley, Robert “Sonny” Shirley, Patricia S. and Josh Hansel, Morgan and Madison Hansel, Christopher and Stephanie Shirley, and Braxton and Cole Shirley.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith and was an active communicant in St. Thomas Catholic Parish in Long Beach until she was admitted to the Dixie White House Nursing Home in 2006.
Visitation and services will be at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 11:30 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery with her husband and son.
The family would like to take an opportunity to especially thank the staff of the Dixie White House Nursing Home, the doctors of Memorial Hospital and the staff of Canon Hospice for their special loving care of our beloved mother during her final years and days with us.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Francingues, Kenneth René Francingues, Justin Gregory, Clay Channell, Jared Herodes and Chris Shirley.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Canon Hospice, Gulfport, Miss.
