Burglaries, drugs bring fear to Fostoria City Hall, police say personnel beefing up efforts

The home of Tony and Jill Bishop on Drummond Street has been burglarized twice this month and the items stolen are not what they worry about.

“My kids don’t sleep,” Jill Bishop said. “(Tony) doesn’t sleep. He’s afraid they’re going to come back and that he’s not going to hear them. It’s not just our stuff they took, it’s the fear they put into our house is what makes it so bad.”

The Bishops were burglarized on June 16 and again on June 22, and lost personal possessions including TVs, game systems, jewelry and money from the home where they’ve lived two years.

Their story prompted the Fostoria Homeowners Association, an organization of 64 homes along Drummond, Cherry, Harris and Bowmar, to call an emergency meeting Tuesday night to talk with city leaders and to develop a solution to combat the ongoing crime activity.
