The April installment of Mixed Nuts!, a monthly artists program at Peterson’s Art & Antiques, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the downtown shop.

Rob Mendrop will share information on how to grow, harvest and cure bamboo. Items made from bamboo will be available. Ruth Wilkerson of La Petite Abeille, “The Little Bee,” will talk about the benefits of beeswax candles.

Bike show will aid children’s shelter

The local Gold Wing Road Riders Association will host Fun Day, an event Saturday at Clear Creek Pavilion in Bovina.

Offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be games, food and door prizes. A bike show will be from 10 to 11 a.m.

Entry to the bike show is $10 or $15. A people’s choice award will be given.

Two Homemakers win blue ribbons

Two members of the Warren County chapter of the Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers have received top awards in a local contest.

Ardiss Marshall and Phyllis Tingle won blue ribbons in the purchased garment category of the organization’s annual Fashion Review. Marshall wore a white tunic with blue floral applique paired with navy slacks. Tingle wore a floral, knee-length dress with a matching sweater.

Both will advance to the area meeting April 23 in Simpson County. If they win awards there, they will head to the state competition in Starkville.

Sorority’s history chronicled at museum

The Vicksburg chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority has donated items for an exhibit at the Jacqueline House African American Museum.

The chapter, which was chartered in 1976, donated a portable DVD player and a film of the chapter’s history.

The Jacqueline House, 1325 Main St., houses artifacts of African-Americans in Vicksburg. Call 601-619-0002 for an appointment to tour the museum.
