Claudia Jean Funches died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 62.

Ms. Funches was a member of Old Come And See Baptist Church in Port Gibson. She was the owner of Funches Family Day Care in Los Angeles, where she lived for many years, and a retired caregiver.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Henrietta Funches; a son, Nickcolus Funches; her parents, Claude and Willie Funches; two sisters, Josephine Fitzgerald and Willie “Bonnie” Funches Peterson; and a brother, Willie Spate Jr.

Survivors include her children, Willie Mae Bell Stringer, Claudia Bell-Pruitt, Nicole Funches and Samuel Lamont Funches, all of Lancaster, Calif., Georgia Thompson of Stone Mountain, Ga., Claude Bell of Long Beach, Calif., and Harvey Lee Funches of Vicksburg; three sisters, Indiana Caldwell and Mamie Funches, both of Vicksburg, and Tracy Bland of Utica; a brother, Larry Funches of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will from noon to 6 today at the funeral home.
