Vicksburg woman at UMC after wreck on Miss. 3

A Vicksburg woman was in good condition at University Medical Center following a collision with an 18-wheeler on Mississippi 3 Sunday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
Robin Nosser, 47, 231 Hartley Road, drove her 1996 Geo Tracker onto the highway in front of the southbound truck driven by Sammie Walker, 52, 3158 Highway 430 South, Greenwood, Highway Safety Patrol Trooper Wayne Smith said.
The 18-wheeler hit the Tracker, and “she was ejected from the vehicle” at about 2 p.m. near Ballground Road, Smith said.
Nosser was taken by ambulance to River Region Medical Center and transferred to UMC in Jackson where she was being treated for head injuries and a broken collarbone, he said.
A hospital spokesman said this morning that Nosser was in good condition.
Her motive to enter the road is unclear, he said, and the wreck is still under investigation.
The truck driver was not reported injured.
No citations were issued.
Third DUI charge lands man in jail
A Vicksburg man was arrested Sunday night for a felony third offense driving under the influence.
Anthony Reynolds, 49, 128 Village Drive, was stopped by patrolmen at Cherry and Holly streets for driving without headlights and arrested at 10:51 p.m., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Reynolds was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Warren County Jail, Stewart said.
Juvenile arrested for mall shoplifting
A Vicksburg teen was arrested at Dillard’s in the Pemberton Square mall Saturday night for felony shoplifting.
The 16-year-old juvenile is accused of taking five short-sleeved Polo shirts valued at $75 each, three short-sleeved Polo shirts valued at $65 each and one long-sleeved Polo shirt valued at $65 from the business at 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd. at 6:57 p.m., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
The teen was being held at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center, Stewart said.
Three auto burglaries reported in Vicksburg
Three auto burglaries were reported in Vicksburg during the weekend, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A set of keys to a Nissan Maxima was reported stolen from an unlocked 2003 Chevrolet Silverado in the 100 block of Maison Rue at 1:16 this morning.
A Motorola cell phone valued at $150 was reported stolen from a 1994 Cadillac Deville in the 100 block of Pemberton Street at 6:30 a.m. Friday.
A black purse valued at $50 and contents including $20 were reported stolen from a 2007 Toyota Camry in the 3100 block of Washington Street at 1:20 p.m. Friday. The purse was found 10 minutes later in the same area with only the cash missing.
Heater, computer among missing items
Two residential burglaries were reported in the city and county Saturday evening.
A portable heater valued at $25 was reported stolen from a home in the 800 block of West Pine Street at 5:30 p.m., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A Dell laptop computer valued at $349, a Remington 870 shotgun valued at $250, a 7 mm magnum Remington model 700 shotgun valued at $484 and a Leopold scope valued at $394 were reported stolen from a home in the 700 block of Dana Road, county records showed.
Fires damage building after burglars get in
Flames consumed the interior of a vacant Cherry Street office building following a burglary Saturday morning, police said.
At about 4:10 a.m., the blaze, which was contained to the interior, caused extensive damage throughout the Khouri Executive Plaza at 1209 Cherry St., near Clay, Vicksburg patrolman Milton Moore, said.
Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said the building was entered through a window and the offices were “ransacked.”
“The would-be burglar set a fire in the rear office,” said Stewart.
No injuries were reported.
A report from the Vicksburg Fire Department was not available.
Port Gibson woman injured in wreck on 61
A Port Gibson driver was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at Warrenton Road and U.S. 61 south Friday evening.
Lora McDaniel, 49, 6120 Joe Reed Road, was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said.
Details of the wreck were not available.
Vicksburg man held by Texas authorities
A Vicksburg man was arrested on drug charges in Texas Jan. 2.
Curtis Miller, 49, was charged with possession of marijuana — more than five pounds and less than 50 — during a traffic stop for no registration, reports showed.
Two Edinburg, Texas, residents were arrested with Miller on Highway 77 north of Woodsboro, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley.
Joseph Dykes, 34, and Yvonne Garcia, 29, received the same charges after being stopped in a Dodge Avenger.
A search of the car revealed the marijuana in a tote bag in the trunk.
Texas state officials could not be reached for details.
