Elese Breazeale Harvey

Elese Breazeale Harvey died on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Highland Home in Ridgeland. Ninety years old, born in Meridian, on Nov. 2, 1919, she moved to Vicksburg as a young child and lived there until 1961 when she moved to Yazoo City, where she lived until 1998.
Mrs. Harvey was the daughter of the late Richard and Ardath Breazeale; wife of the late Oscar Tillman Harvey; and sister of the late Melba Robb.
She was a graduate of Carr Central High School and attended All Saints’ College. Although a homemaker for most of her life, she held various secretarial positions, including at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg.
Faithful to her Lord Jesus Christ, she was active in First Baptist churches in Vicksburg, Yazoo City and Jackson. Loving flowers, she attended and hosted various garden clubs. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. For many years she volunteered at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City.
At Highland Home, where she resided, she loved bingo and domino games and attended Alta Woods Baptist Church services at the residence. She was known for her bright necklaces, earrings and pins, which she wore daily, and for her eagerness to participate in Highland Home activities.
She is survived by her six children, Ann H. Wheeless; William T. (Bill) Harvey and wife, Amanda; Linda Dale Graves; Richard A. Harvey and wife Jeanie; John D. Harvey and Thomas C. Harvey and wife Gina. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill, Thomas, Richard, and John Harvey, and Linnie Wheeless and Sarah Wheeless Hammond.
Services were at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City on Monday, March 8. Burial was at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist churches in Vicksburg, Yazoo City or Jackson, or the Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson.
