James Earl Shivers III

TALLULAH — Funeral services for Mr. James Earl “Jimmy” Shivers III, age 44, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Tallulah with Rev. John Rushing and Rev. Raylan Trisler officiating. Burial will follow at the Shivers Family Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service Saturday.

Mr. Shivers died early Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at University Medical Center in Jackson after a brief illness.

He was born in Delhi and had lived in Tallulah all his life. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and the Tallulah Bass Club. Mr. Shivers was chief of operations for the Madison Parish Corrections Center. He had been employed by the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Department for over 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Ann Shivers of Tallulah; three children, Amanda Shivers, James “Jes” E. Shivers IV and Brelynne Shivers, all of Tallulah; and one grandchild, Rayley of Tallulah; his parents, James and Tiki Shivers of Tallulah; a brother, Shannon Shivers and wife Angel of Tallulah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Zeigler, Tracey Weems, Bill Deweese, Antonio Johnson, Stanley Jenkins, and Chad Ezell.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Department and Tallulah Bass Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Madison Parish D.A.R.E. Program, the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
