Marcuson honored by his alma mater

Dr. W.F. “Bill” Marcuson, director emeritus of the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, has received Michigan State University’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award.
Marcuson has a master’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan State. A Winston-Salem, N.C., native, he has a bachelor’s degree from The Citadel and a doctorate from North Carolina State University — both in civil engineering.
Marcuson, who began his ERDC career in 1970, was director of the GSL from 1981 until his retirement in 2000.
His Corps awards include Engineer of the Year, in 1981 and 1995, and Civilian of the Year in 1997.
