PORT GIBSON — A lifelong resident of Port Gibson, Helen G. Norwood, beloved wife of Tommy, died at her home Monday, July 12, 2010. She was 80.

Her life’s calling was her love and dedication to her husband and children. Helen loved gardening, needlework, entertaining her friends and making her home a warm place to live.

She was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas C. Norwood Jr. of Port Gibson; two sons, Thomas “Todd” Norwood and wife Joni of Vicksburg and John Clinton Norwood and wife Janna of Hattiesburg; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brown and husband Wayne of Port Gibson; three grandchildren, Chrissy Brewer and husband John of Vicksburg, Luke Brasel and wife Amandy of Gluckstadt and Ben Norwood of Hattiesburg; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Port Gibson United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Carpenter Cemetery in Carpenter, Miss.

Visitation will from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Herbert Williams, Burnice Trevilion, Cooper Trevilion, John Brewer, Percy McCaa, Joe Trosclair, Jimmy Carraway, Mike Lowery, Jeff Roberts and Steve Dargis.

Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson is in charge of arrangements.
