Dr. Jack Sigmar Rice Jr.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Dr. Jack Sigmar Rice Jr. died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at his home in San Angelo, Texas. He was 71.
Dr. Rice was born in Vicksburg and was a graduate of Carr Central High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Yale School of Medicine. He served in the U.S. Army and completed his surgical residency at University of Texas Southwestern, Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He founded and practiced medicine at West Texas Medical Associates until his retirement in July of this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sigmar Rice and Florence Rustein Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Celia L. Rice; three sons, Dr. Jeffrey J. Rice of Brentwood, Tenn., Mark E. Rice of Austin, Texas, and Rodney S. Rice of Boerne, Texas; four stepchildren, Joseph, Michael, Paul and Dena Kasberg; 15 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Patricia Stamm of Vicksburg.
A memorial service was Sunday at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo.
