Meeting Thursday, the Vicksburg Warren School Board of Trustees:
• Approved minutes of the Dec. 10 meeting.
• Accepted donations totalling $5,650: $3,000 from WVBG FM for Christmas Caroling Contest awards for Bovina, Bowmar and Vicksburg Intermediate schools; $150 from Chuck’s Dairy Bar for student council activities at VJHS; $500 from River Region for school health council activities at Warrenton Elementary; and $2,000 from J.C. Penney for the robotics teams at WCHS.
• Approved amendments to the 2009-2010 budget.
• Approved accounts payable claims for January.
• Approved personnel recommendations: compensation for extra duties, reappointment of administrators, certified personnel resignations and new hires, substitutes, tutors, mentors; classified personnel hires; salaries for bus mechanics and support services.
• Approved three WCHS students performing at the Choral Directors Convention in Memphis March 10-13; district staff to attend the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators Conference in Washington, D.C., March 28 to 31; district staff to attend the School Nutrition Association Legislative Action Conference in Washington, D.C., Feb. 26-March 3; WCHS band members to attend a music conference in Monroe, La., Feb. 26 or 27, a competition in Pensacola, Fla., March 12-14, and a competition in Houston March 19-21; WCHS NJROTC, a drill competition at Southern University in Baton Rouge Feb. 27; about 75 WCHS students to attend Bodies: The Exhibition and the Marian Koshland Science Museum at the National Academy of Sciences in Dallas in February or March; three VHS coaches, a clinic in Dallas Feb. 19-21; WCHS and VHS tennis teams, Monroe March 19; and VHS Fast Pitch Softball team, Alexandria, La., March 20.
• Approved the implementation of Credit Recovery, a program to help students failing a course receive credit without repeating a year of school.
• Approved changing the next board meeting date to Feb. 18 because of scheduling conflicts.
