Jewell Lofton Thompson

CORINTH — Jewell Lofton Thompson, formerly of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Country Cottage Assisted Living in Corinth. She was 93.

Mrs. Thompson was a retired school teacher and a founding member of Redbone United Methodist Church. She was a former member and Sunday school teacher at Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

For the past 10 years, she had lived in Corinth, where she was a member and Sunday school teacher at First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hope Thompson; her parents, Claude and Eunice Lofton; a brother, James Lofton; and two sisters, Iris Gragg and Annie Summers.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Marsh of Jackson, Tenn., Hope Waite Sorrell of Raymond and Georgia Lynn Lofstrom of Corinth; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Redbone United Methodist Church Cemetery. Burial, directed by Magnolia Funeral Home of Corinth, will follow.
