SUMRALL — Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Newbaker Nelson died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. She was 67.

Born in Satartia, Mrs. Nelson was a Sumrall resident. She was a Navy veteran and a nurse. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas M. and Annie Rodgers Newbaker; one sister, Effie Carol Sanford; and one brother, Donald Ray Newbaker.

Survivors include a son, Paul Monroe Nelson of Hattiesburg; three daughters, Annie Catherine Rasco of Satartia, Terri Jean Pierce of Vicksburg and Ivy Elizabeth Pitts of Pearl; two sisters, Brenda Elizabeth Nelson of Yazoo City and Rita Kay Hopkins of Saucier; one brother, Thomas M. Newbaker Jr. of Lexington; and nine grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at Wesley Chapel in Yazoo County with the Rev. Skipper Maxwell and Paul Monroe Nelson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Buddy Boyanton, Bear Wood, John Michael Morgan, Tommy Boyanton and Eric Pierce.
