McKay is accused of choking his girlfriend on July 14 while at his house, Stewart said. McKay was being held without bond at the police department awaiting an initial court hearing, Stewart said.

Choking became a felony July 1.

Separately, Roderick Lane, 30, 309 Shady Lane, was arrested at his home at 2:44 a.m., about 30 minutes after the victim reported he had struck her in the face with his fist after an argument at her home on Alcorn Drive, Stewart said.

Lane was charged with third-offense domestic violence and held without bond at the police department, also awaiting an initial appearance this morning, Stewart said.
