The search for a Warren County man missing for three weeks was to continue this morning following failed efforts Saturday, the day after his vehicle was found.

“We’re not ruling anything out at this point,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said of the foot search in Issaquena and Warren counties for 31-year-old Jason Allen Ashley.

Pace said his office and Issaquena County officials searched much of Saturday and will search on foot and from the air today.

On Friday, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks found Ashley’s gray 2000 Jeep Cherokee in a remote area off Floweree Road near the Issaquena County line and about three miles from where Ashley and his family live.

Pace said the vehicle had not been wrecked, and there was no evidence of foul play. “The vehicle appeared to be stuck,” he said.

Ashley’s aunt, Dinna Simmons, said the family has been searching in neighboring towns and counties.

“We’ve driven about 3,000 miles looking for him,” she said. “We’ve done everything we know to do. We’ve traveled everywhere he would have gone. This is slowly killing his mother.”

“He called his mother from Pig Willie’s and told his mother he was playing pool with a guy, and that he’ll be home soon,” Simmons said. “He hardly goes out without calling his mother. And him not calling to check on his baby, that really was a panic.” Ashley lives with his parents and his 6-year-old son, Jason.

Ashley’s parents reported him missing on May 27, four days after hearing no more from him. He was due to return to work on an Ergon tug boat on June 5, but failed to show up.

Simmons said her nephew has no known medical conditions.
