CHICAGO — Hosea Johnson died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, in Chicago. He was 79.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rayfield Johnson; his mother, Alease Middleton Johnson Eatmon; his stepfather, Sylvester Eatmon; and one brother, Ruben Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Matthews Johnson; three sons, Harry J. Ferguson of Vicksburg, Rayfield Johnson of Calumet City, Ill., and Hosea Johnson of New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Sharon D. Johnson of Orland Hills, Ill. and Christine Doss of Vicksburg; a sister, Dessie Marie Bruce of Vicksburg; a brother, Whitfield Johnson of Aurora, Ill.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services were Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at Gattling Chapel. Military burial followed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
