The Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen also:

• OK’d board meeting minutes from March 10.

• Received two sealed bids for pebble lime for the water treatment plant from Carmeuse Lime Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa., $198.24 per ton; and Falco Lime Co. of Vicksburg, $128.87 per ton.

• Awarded the following bids: water treatment plant chemicals, Harcros Chemicals Inc. of Vicksburg and Thatcher Chemical of Salt Lake City; traffic management supplies, Custom Products Company of Jackson; Sand, gravel and rock, BP Buford LLC and Miller Materials Inc., both of Vicksburg; and pool chemicals, Thatcher Chemical of Salt Lake City.

• Declared Monday, May 31, Memorial Day, a paid holiday for city employees.

• Designated Anna Booth, city emergency management director, as the city’s agent for any federal public assistance reimbursements following the tornadoes of April 24.

• OK’d spending $2,192 for Babe Ruth and Cal Ripkin Baseball League affiliation and insurance fees for the Mission 66 Baseball League.

• OK’d spending $480 on lunch for the roughly 300 children expected to attend Friday’s sixth annual EMS Day Program, presented by the fire department.

• OK’d spending $36,760.35 for the city’s 60 percent share of Vicksburg-Warren 911 employees’ salaries, matching benefits and insurance for April.

• OK’d May and June Vicksburg Main Street Program advertising totaling $5,505, and an additional $1,250 specifically for Vicksburg Farmers’ Market advertising.

• OK’d complimentary use of the City Auditorium for Memorial Day Services on May 31.

In closed session, the board:

• OK’d 10 new hires: four in the fire department, two in the parks and recreation maintenance department and one each in the police, sewer, right of way and recreation departments.

• OK’d one pay adjustment in the fire department.

• OK’d four title changes in the police department. Mayor Paul Winfield said four “level one” secretaries were performing “level two” duties. He said the secretaries will now have level two titles, but will not receive raises.

• OK’d one termination in the community service department.

• Accepted one resignation in the police department.

• Discussed two personnel matters in the community service and water and gas administration departments, but took no action.

• Discussed one pending litigation matter.
