AURORA, Ill. — Willie B. Hughes died Friday, June 18, 2010. She was 82.

Mrs. Hughes was born in Bovina. She was retired from R&M Kaufmann and was a member of New Horizon Christian Fellowship Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clephus Matthews and Nexienna Russell and stepfather, David Columbus Matthews; her husband, Rufus Hughes Sr.; a brother, Willie Matthews; and a grandson, Avery Hughes.

Survivors include her nine children, Eugene Hughes, Johnnie Hughes, Rufus Hughes Jr., Barbara Williams, David Hughes, Debrah Collins, Carol Hughes, Gladys Pool and Michael Hughes, all of Aurora; eight sisters, Daisy Moore of Vicksburg, Catherine Reid of Calumet City, Ill., Ruby Johnson, Lerma Jean Matthews, Pat Smith, Lucille Williams, Diane Noibi, and Judy Carol Matthews, all of Chicago; two brothers, Arders Matthews of Greenville, Miss., and Charles Matthews of Chicago; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including Suzie Williams of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Main Baptist Church with Michael S. Hurst, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Service. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
