Army Pvt. Ethan C. McBroom has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the nine weeks of basic combat training, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons employment, map reading, military courtesy, physical fitness, first aid skills and Army traditions. The son of John McBroom of Vicksburg, he is a 2008 graduate of Warren Central High School.
Air Force Reserve Airman Deren F. Jenkins has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The eight-week program included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles.
His basic training completion earns him four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. The son of Louise Porter of Tallulah, he is a 2001 graduate of McCall Senior High School.
Air Force Capt. Eric Baroni has been awarded the Bronze Star for his achievements in the line of duty while serving at the U.S. Army Forward Operating Base Rushmore in Sharana, Afghanistan. A physician’s assistant, he had charge of the troop medical clinic overseeing nine junior medics from various services. Under his leadership the unit saw a 300 percent workload increase and treated more than 500 patients. He also organized a humanitarian project benefitting local Afghan children. He is the son of Tom and Jonnie Baroni of Vicksburg.
