I want to say thank you to all the people who worked so hard to make last Saturday’s Vicksburg Tea Party such as success.

I was invited to be one of the speakers and as I attended the rally, my wife and four children thoroughly enjoyed touring your beautiful and historic city. I left the rally feeling energized that so many citizens are looking forward to exercising their right to vote on Nov. 2.

In fact, I heard one lady declare that she would crawl over broken glass to get to the voting booth. Enthusiasm like hers is why the tea party movement is making such a difference across the nation. It is my desire that every American who loves this country will storm the voting booths on Election Day and bring your family, friends, and neighbors to vote also.

If you are not registered to vote you have until Oct. 2 to do so. If you do not vote, then you have no right to gripe or complain about our government. In those famous words associated with Mississippi’s Delta hero, Mary Lou Hamer, “I am sick and tired of being sick and tired”

I think that so many citizens want to do something about the situation that we find ourselves in as a region and a country. I know of no better way to express yourself than voting on Nov. 2.
