James Vernon Tarver

LAUREL HILL, Fla. — James Vernon Tarver died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at his home in Laurel Hill, Fla. He was 74.
Born in Monroe, La., he attended school in Warren, Ark., and graduated from Tallulah High School in 1953. He served in the Air Force and received a master’s degree in electronic engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1971.
He worked for 14 years at Waterways Experiment Station before moving to Greensboro, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Tarver and Lucille Brower Tarver of Tallulah; and a brother, William R. Tarver of Jonesboro, Ark.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judith Kay Tarver; two daughters, Tamara Linn Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., and Catherine McMaster of Florala, Ala.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sea Cemetery in Laurel Hill with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Florala.
