Jury convicts Warren County man of sexual battery of 4-year-old girl

A Warren County man was convicted this week of sexual battery of a 4-year-old girl.

Sentencing in Warren County Circuit Court is set for Nov. 19 for John Graham, 18, 4426 Halls Ferry Road, who was 17 at the time of the incident, May 26, District Attorney Ricky Smith said. A minimum of 20 years in prison is possible for such offenders over age 18, Smith said.

Deliberations by a jury lasted about an hour, the DA said.

Also in circuit court during the week ending Friday:

• Tyrone Carter, 31, 320 Fisher Ferry Road, pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced by Judge Isadore Patrick to two years in prison, with 30 days to serve, followed by two years post-release supervision by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, plus $822.50 in fees and court costs. Cater was arrested March 15.

• Joshua Coffee, 241 Demby Drive, pleaded guilty to two counts of strong-arm robbery and aggravated assault and was sentenced by Judge M. James Chaney to three years in prison followed by three years probation, pending completion of mental health treatment, plus $1,822.50 in fines, court costs and assessments. Coffee was arrested Aug. 12, 2009.

• Korey Evans, 25, 7823 Halls Ferry Road, pleaded guilty to violating probation on a prior drug possession charge following his May 26 arrest on a robbery charge. Evans was sentenced by Patrick to a year in prison with credit for time served in jail since May 26. In June 2009, Evans was sentenced to eight years in prison with a year and a day to serve and six years and 364 days suspended for possession of cocaine.

• Tremarcus Garrett, 21, 1506 Greenhill Road, pleaded guilty to domestic violence, simple assault and was sentenced by Chaney to 10 years suspended with five years of supervision by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, plus $1,822.50 in fines and court costs. Garrett was arrested Feb. 16.

• Hannah Lee, 21, 911 Bowmar Ave., pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, 0.1 gram or greater but less than 2 grams, and was sentenced by Chaney to five years in the Ninth Circuit Drug Court program, plus $1,822.50 in fines and other assessments. Lee was arrested May 12.

• Homer Lenoir, 46, 41 Roberts St., was sentenced by Patrick to 10 years in prison with two years suspended and three years post-release supervision by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, plus $1,322 in fines, court costs and other assessments. Lenoir was arrested July 29, 2008, and found guilty by a Warren County jury Sept. 29.

• Ashton Lyons, 20, 125 Drake Road, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling-grand larceny and was sentenced by Chaney to 10 years suspended with supervision by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, plus $1,322 in fines and restitution. Lyons was arrested Nov. 17, 2009.

• Jamal Smith, 19, 2918 Green St., pleaded guilty to third offense domestic violence and was sentenced by Chaney to 10 years in prison with two to serve and five years post-release supervision, plus $1,822.50 in fines and court costs. Smith was arrested March 20.

• Eddie Stelivan, 25, 80 Gaskin Circle, pleaded guilty to sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to eight years in prison with five suspended, plus $1,622.50 in fines and court costs. Stelivan was arrested May 8.

• Billy Westbrook, 21, 45 Hometown Road, pleaded guilty to two charges — possession of precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. A pair of five-year sentences to the Ninth Circuit Drug Court program handed down by Chaney will run concurrently. Court costs and assessments in the two pleadings totaled $2,745.50. Westbrook was arrested on the meth charge May 19 and on Aug. 16 for the marijuana charge.
