Anne Martin “Marti” Morris died Monday, May 31, 2010, at her home. Born Feb. 26, 1953, in Atlanta, she had been a Vicksburg resident for the past eight years. She attended the Houston, Texas, public schools prior to entering the College of the Mainland in League City, Texas, where she received her registered nurse degree. She was a practicing registered nurse for 26 years.

Miss Morris was a member of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her mother, Ann D. Morris of Vicksburg; two brothers, James Martin Morris Jr. and his wife, Elaine, of Clinton and Michael Morris of Vicksburg; and a niece, Barbara Ann Morris of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Martin Morris Sr.; her paternal grandparents, George and Mildred Morris; and her maternal grandparents, Marion and Calla Dewees.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Cary Stockett, pastor of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Toney Cummins, Taylor Rowland, Billy Bishop, John Storey, Phil Vedros and Greg Bingham.
