Buse loses wager, gets a new blonde mohawk

St. Aloysius assistant coach Chris Buse will be sporting a new hairdo for the Class 1A championship series.

After the Flashes lost to nationally-ranked Sumrall last month, Buse told the players they could do anything they wanted to if they made it back to the state finals.

“As long as it’s legal and within my scruples,” Buse laughed.

After running through a few possibilites that were quickly nixed — including pierced nipples or a tattoo — the players decided on an old standby. After Monday’s practice at Bazinsky Field they sat Buse down and shaved his head.

Or part of it, at least.

Buse received a mohawk in the shape of a lightning bolt. It was later bleached blonde, as was his goatee.

“I’m going to look like a barbarian,” Buse joked before getting the new haircut. “It’s just something that’s fun. It’s fun for the guys and fun for us coaches. It breaks up the monotony.”
